(Psa 66:18 KJV) If I regard iniquity in
my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
More reasons why even our
Prayer Fails
Casting away one's faith in God:
(1 Tim 1:19 KJV) Holding faith, and a good
conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made
shipwreck: Telling or reading dirty jokes, stories:
(Eph 5:4 KJV) Neither filthiness, nor foolish
talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of
thanks. Stealing. pirated software
(Eph 4:28 KJV) Let him that stole steal no
more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is
good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Discriminations:
(Gal 3:28 KJV) There is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male
nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Partiality
(James 2:1 KJV) My brethren,
have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect
of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring,
in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And
ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit
thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit
here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are
become judges of evil thoughts?
Greediness:
(Eph 4:17 KJV) This I say
therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other
Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding
darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is
in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling
have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with
greediness.
Lusts:
(Gal 5:24 KJV) And they that are
Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts.
Fleshly Anger:
(James 1:19 KJV) Wherefore,
my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to
wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Covetousness :
Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness,
let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Hatred
(1
John 4:20 KJV) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a
liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love
God whom he hath not seen?
Idolatary
(Deu 5:7 KJV) Thou shalt have none other gods
before me. Cursing, witchcraft, strife, envyings
(Galatians 5 :19 KJV) Now the works of the
flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations,
wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness,
revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also
told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the
kingdom of God.
Us having Fellowship with the wicked
(Prov 4:14 KJV) Enter not into the path
of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by
it, turn from it, and pass away. 16 For they sleep not, except they have
done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to
fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of
violence... 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at
what they stumble.
(Ephesians 5:11 KJV) And have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them.
Departing from God's words
(Prov 4:20 KJV) My son, attend to my words; incline thine
ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in
the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them,
and health to all their flesh.
Adultery
(Prov 5:3 KJV) For the lips of a
strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5 Her feet go
down to death; her steps take hold on hell. 6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the
path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. 7 Hear
me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: 9
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: 10)
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of
a stranger; 11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are
consumed, 12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart
despised reproof; 13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor
inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14 I was almost in all evil in
the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Divorce, seperations
(Proverbs 5: 15 KJV)
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own
well. 16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the
streets. 17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. 18 Let
thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19 Let her
be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all
times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
(Prov 5:20 KJV) And why wilt thou, my son, be
ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? (Prov
5:21 KJV) For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he
pondereth all his goings.22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked
himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23 He shall die
without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go
astray.
Co-signing on behalf of others
(Prov 6:1 KJV) My son, if thou be surety for
thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, 2 Thou art
snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy
mouth. 3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into
the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. 4 Give
not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. 2 Deliver thyself as
a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the
fowler.
Laziness
(Prov 6:6 KJV) Go to the ant, thou
sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer,
or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the
harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of
thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the
hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy
want as an armed man.
Gossip, Slander
(Prov 6:12 KJV) A naughty
person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. 13 He winketh with
his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; 14
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth
discord. 15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be
broken without remedy.
(Prov 18:8 KJV) The words of a talebearer are
as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Pride
(Prov 6:16 KJV) These six things doth
the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a
lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth
wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Perjury, lies
(Prov 6:19 KJV) A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that
soweth discord among brethren. (Prov 4:24 KJV) Put away from thee a froward
mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
The following is a further list of some other
things that also often do hinder our prayer life, our personal walk with God
through the Holy Spirit
(1) Maladjustment to the Holy Spirit.
John
4:22-23 You worship that which you do not know; we worship that which we
know, for salvation is from the Jews. 22 But an hour is coming, and now is,
when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for
such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
Jude 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves
up on your most holy faith; praying in the Holy Spirit;
Ephesians 6:18 With all prayer and petition
pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with
all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy
Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
(2) Maladjustment to the Word of God (cf. also
Ps. 119)
Proverbs 28:9 He who turns away his ear from listening to the
law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words
abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.
Prayers Not
asking according to God's will.
(James 4:3 KJV) Ye ask, and receive not,
because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.4 Ye
adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is
enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the
enemy of God.
(3) Failure to pray in faith.
Matthew 21:22
And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall
receive.
1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence which
we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears
us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we
have the requests which we have asked from Him.
James 1:5-7 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let
him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it
will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for
the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the
wind. 7 For let not that man expect that he will receive anything from the
Lord,
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible
to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He
is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Prayers Asking with faith that
doubts.
(James 1:6 KJV) But let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with
the wind and tossed.7 For let not that man think that he shall receive
any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his
ways.
(4) Failure to ask because of a spirit of
self-dependence.
James 4:2 You lust and do not have; so you commit
murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You
do not have because you do not ask.
(5) Failure to ask from the right motives,
without concern for God's
will.
James 4:3 You ask and do not receive,
because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your
pleasures.
James 4:15 Instead, you ought to say, "If the
Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that."
1 Corinthians 4:19 But I will come to you soon,
if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are
arrogant, but their power.
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done, On earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 26:42 He went away again a second time
and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it,
Thy will be done."
(6) Failure to endure, fainting under pressure.
Luke 18:1 Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times
they ought to pray and not to lose heart,
1 Samuel 27:1-3 Then David said to
himself, "Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing
better for me than to escape into the land of the Philistines. Saul then
will despair of searching for me anymore in all the territory of Israel, and
I will escape from his hand." 2 So David arose and crossed over, he and the
six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 And David lived with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each with his
household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and
Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's widow.
Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the LORD
will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will
run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Not persistent:
This requires time and is perhaps why the Lord
gives the three pictures of asking, seeking, and knocking in Matthew 7:7-8.
7 Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks
finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened. Prayer is not just a matter
of asking, but of seeking God's direction and will, and waiting on Him just
as one knocks and waits at the door for someone to hear and open the door.
Keep asking, be patient, and be sure to ask what God's will is in the
matter. Is what I am asking really what is best according to God's purposes
and wisdom?
(7) Wrong relations with people, an unforgiving
spirit.
Mark 11:25-26 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you
have anything against anyone; so that your Father also who is in heaven may
forgive you your transgressions. 26 (But if you do not forgive, neither will
your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.)
Having still an Unrepentant
Spirit towards others.
(Mat 5:23 KJV) Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and
there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;24 Leave
there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy
brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
(8) Pretentious praying, praying to impress
people.
Matthew 6:5-8 And when you pray, you are not to be as the
hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the
street corners, in order to be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have
their reward in full. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, and
when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your
Father who sees in secret will repay you. 7 And when you are praying, do not
use meaningless repetition, as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they
will be heard for their many words. 8 Therefore do not be like them; for
your Father knows what you need, before you ask Him.
Self Exaltations:
(2 Cor 10:5 KJV) Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ;
(9)
Religious zeal in the form of vain repetitions and cultic ritual.
Matthew
6:7 And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition, as the
Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
1 Kings 18:26-29 Then they took the
ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the name of Baal
from morning until noon saying, "O Baal, answer us." But there was no voice
and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made. 27 And
it came about at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, "Call out with a
loud voice, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone aside, or is on a
journey, or perhaps he is asleep and needs to be awakened." 28 So they cried
with a loud voice and cut themselves according to their custom with swords
and lances until the blood gushed out on them. 29 And it came about when
midday was past, that they raved until the time of the offering of the
evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid
attention.
Romans 10:2-3 For I bear them witness that they
have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3 For not knowing
about God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not
subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
(10) Domestic breakdown in the home.
1
Peter 3:7 You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding
way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a
fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be
hindered.
Improper attitudes toward one's spouse.
(1 Pet 3:7 KJV) Likewise, ye husbands,
dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto
the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that
your prayers be not hindered.
Failing in one's Duties to ones' Spouse-
"if a wife or husband neglected their duties to
each other, their prayers would be hindered" (1Pet.3:1-7).
(Gal 5:25 KJV) If we live in the Spirit, let us
also walk in the Spirit. For they
that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they
that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.6 For to be carnally
minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because
the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of
God, neither indeed can be So then they that are in the flesh cannot please
God. .(Rom 5-7:8 KJV)
(Isa 10:4 KJV) Without me they shall bow down
under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his
anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
(John 15:5 KJV) I am the vine, ye are the
branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much
fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
(James 1:21 KJV) Wherefore lay apart all
filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the
word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a
hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his
natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and
straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into
the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful
hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
(James 1:26 KJV) If any man among you seem to
be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this
man's religion is vain.
(James 1:27
KJV) Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit
the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted
from the world.
(1 John 1:9 KJV) If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
(1 John 1:10 KJV) If we say that we have not
sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Note: this is what still the Human wisdom,
carnal approach ends up doing
"Furthermore, since they did not think it
worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved
mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every
kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters,
insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they
disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things
deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also
approve of those who practice them." Romans 1:28-32
For I know the plans I
have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe!
but good plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call upon me,
when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you
will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, you will find me
says the Lord. Jer.29:11-15
I will give them a heart to know me, that I am
the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will
return to me with all their heart." (Jeremiah 24:7).
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou
mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 1:2)
Bodliy exercise profiteth little.but godliness
is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and
of that which is to come This is a faithful saying and worthy of all
acceptation. 1 Tim 4:8,9)
Luke 24: 45 Then opened he their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is
written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the
third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached
in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are
witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father
upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with
power from on high. 50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he
lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he
blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. 52 And
they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: 53 And were
continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray
one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much. 1st PETER 2:24
"Strive for. . .the holiness without which no
one will see the Lord" Hebrews 12:24
Want to have a good life? Then don't be
obstinate, wicked, unteachable, or rather hard to be reproved, for then you
will die an early death. Firstly always, always be totally loyal and
faithful to God and his teachings, his revealed will. Always try to pay
close attention to what God alone is trying to lead you to do, and to what
God also restricts you from doing as well. Trust firstly, solely in what God
says in his word, and still do not at all rely on what you think you know.
Rather personally seek God's will in all, in everything you do and He, God
will show you the right way, the more excellent path too. Never still delude
yourself even wrongfully to believe that you now are wiser than you really
are, that you now even know better than God as to what you can do, or what
you should do , rather humble yourself, always firstly commit yourself to
seeking God's direct will, approval still in all that you undertake, try to
do, and do try really hard to obey, follow after what God, he reveals to you
to do. Do not at all be guilty of the sin of presumption, presuming that God
has already spoken, revealed his permissive will to you on every matter when
in fact he has not. Check with him about everything you do still. Give God
also now the best of all that you have, and only do God's will alone even in
all, in everything and that now still includes even what you watch on TV,
what you read anywhere now too, even as to who your friends should be too
now, and how you do pass any of your time here on earth too.
"Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then
have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him,
because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in
his sight." (1 John 3:21-22)
(Isa 30:21 KJV) And thine ears shall hear a
word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to
the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
I have actually been in two Churches where the
local Pastors wrongfully, specifically had forbidden me to be negative to
preach or talk about personal repentance. Needless to say God removed both
Pastors from the Church next too. It appears that these rather false empire
oriented pastors to increase the size of their churches and they had also
wrongfully watered down God's requirements for being born again and being
acceptable members of a Church too
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so
deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does
not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and,
after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks
like." (James 1:22-24)
"But he who looks into the perfect law of
liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the
work, this one will be blessed in what he does" (James 1:25).
Finally, draw your strength from the Lord* and
his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you will be able to stand
firm against the tactics of the devil. Our battle is not against human
forces but against the principalities, and powers, the rulers of this world
of darkness, the evil spirits in region above. Ephesians 6:10-12
"Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
Who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk in
His ways. You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that
my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!" (Psalm 119:2-5).
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom
his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due
season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so
doing. (Matthew 24:45,46)
Matt 28:20 "teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of
the age." Amen!
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because
the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent
me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and
the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable
year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that
mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of
the Lord, that he might be glorified. (Isaiah
61:1-3)
