In the Upper Room, on the last evening of his earthly life, Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit  five times to his followers. But they  like us surely do NOT fully understand what it all meant.. many persons still do not.
 
(John 8:33 KJV)  They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
 
(Rom 6:18 KJV)  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
 
(Rom 8:10 KJV)  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.12  Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live .14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
 
The Holy Spirit is at the root of Christian freedom, which is removal from the yokes of sin. The Apostle Paul clearly says so: "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death" (Rom 8:2) and from the false slavery of men and women...
 
(Rom 6:22 KJV)  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
 
Precisely because moral life is irradiated by the Spirit, as Apostle Paul reminds us, it produces fruits of "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (Gal 5:22).
 
Like many other promises of God, including heaven, the resurrection, healing, God allowed some of  his followers to  experience the "first fruits" a preview of of the Holy spirit even before the final promises had been made  to come forth.
 
(John 20:21 KJV)  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22   And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost 23  Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

God in love brings us back to fellowship with him, and leads us back into the  inheritance that he has for us through the Holy Spirt.

As we can pour,  give our bodies unto sin, we can also give our bodies unto the Holy spirit, to lead us, to guide us, to work, to pour  through us

Israel had what is called the year of Jubilee every 50 years.  'And you shall number SEVEN SABBATHS of YEARS unto you, seven times seven years; and the space of seven sabbaths of years shall be unto you FORTY-NINE years. The you shall cause the TRUMPET of the JUBILEE to sound on the TENTH DAY of the SEVENTH MONTH, in the day of ATONEMENT shall you make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall hallow the FIFTIETH year, and proclaim LIBERTY throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a JUBILEE unto you; and you shall return every man unto his possessions, and you
shall return every man unto his family.' That's Lev.25: 8-10.
 
(Lev 25:13 KJV)  In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.

(Lev 25:28 KJV)  But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubilee: and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
 
(Lev 25:41 KJV)  And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
 
(Lev 27:24 KJV)  In the year of the jubilee the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

Fifty is the number connected with the Spirit, Holy Spirit and a Jubilee.The  Spirit was poured  out at the first Pentecost  year after the resurrection of Jesus setting the captives fully free.
 
(Lev 23:10 KJV)  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: 11   And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12  And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
 
   The word of God tells us that CREATION shall be DELIVERED from the Bondage into the GLORIOUS LIBERTY of the CHILDREN of God. 
 
 (Rom 8:21 KJV)  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
 
The physical resurretion next of our redeemed  bodies is associated with the  the Jubillee, Pentecost and the Millenium now as well..
 
(Job 19:26 KJV)  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
 
(Psa 38:3 KJV)  There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. (Psa 38:7 KJV)  For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
 
(Rom 7:18 KJV)  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
 
which one of us has not felt the sinful drawback, tempations, weakness in our sinful felsh.
 
The Holy spirit will not only help us to overcome the flesh, but he next will also cause our own earthly bodies to be fully ressurected in heaven.
 
(Rev 20:1 KJV)  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,  3  And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  5  But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
 
(1 Cor 15:21 KJV)  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23   But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
 
"Next the first fruits offering represented the risen Christ, through the power of the Spirit of God. The work of the Spirit of God raised Jesus from the grave into glorified eternal life. He was the first of the firstfruits. The harvest of the new grain could now begin in the land of Israel, Palestine when this firstfruits sheaf had been waved before the Lord God. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that will gather in all the children of God into the first harvest gathering at the resurrection when Jesus returns to this earth. The power of the Holy Spirit will raise all those saints of God into that resurrection glory at the coming of Christ. "
 
Next   when 20, the biblical number for REDEMPTION, is multiplied by 50, the number of years connected with the year of JUBILEE, the product is 1000, the number of years of the Millennium reign as in Revelation 20: 4-6.
 
 Now does the Millennium Jubilee involves the physical resurrection fo the nation of Israel as well as the bodily resurrection of all of the  believers? The Bible sure seems to indicate this.

     The blowing of the TRUMPET was connected with the year of JUBILEE and the returning of the people to their possessions.  'And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and you shall be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the GREAT TRUMPET SHALL BE BLOWN, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.Isaiah 27: 12, 13.

     'Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my SPIRIT upon the house of Israel, says the Lord God.'   Ezekiel 39: 28, 29.
 
"The risen Christ, the first of the firstfruits, the first harvest of new crop then beginning, representing the harvest of new believers in Christ Jesus, the 50 days that this harvest continued unto the day of Pentecost, the 50 cubits width of the Court of the Tabernacle, the 50th year of Jubilee, the seven times seven days or seven weeks from the wave sheaf offering to Pentecost, seven complete sevens, the seven times seven years of  sabbaths to the 50th year of Jubilee, whence LIBERTY and FREEDOM was proclaimed throughout the whole land botht to the Jew and gentile. 
 
All this by the POWER and MIGHT of the Eternal God through His great and wonderful HOLY SPIRIT.
 
     Jesus was raised from the dead through the power of Spirit.  He comes to live within His followers through the power of the Spirit, those who are now being brought into the new harvest of God by the Spirit. The first harvest of saints to be gathered in at the coming again of Christ to this earth, will be by a resurrection of those saints through the power of the Spirit.
 
The true regathering of Israel and Judah from the land of their enemies and being brought back to Zion with singing and joy, at the sound of the trumpet call, when Christ comes again, will be all done only through the power of the Spirit and in the timing of the  holy Spirit too, in the Millenium Jubilee. 
 
The freedom for all nations on earth from the bondage of sin and the Devil, when Jesus comes to reign for a 1000 years,  will be accomplished by the power of the Spirit."
 
The Spirit himself  the greatest gift we have received from Jesus and his Father.  He is central to our faith and life in Christ.
 
In the Old Testament,  Pentecost also commemorates the day when Moses gave the Law to the Israelites but unto us all now who believe in Jesus Christ our new law giver  Pentecost is the day when the Church, through the Apostles, received the gift of God's divine love, the Holy Spirit.
 
(Rom 5:5 KJV)  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
 
All the events of Christian life must therefore take place under the influence of the Spirit.  It is not at all even one of man's efforts that causes any of the Jubilee to come forth...but God's grace and God's laws. During the Millennium the resurrected Christians too will have their real physical bodies.
 
 "Not by might, nor by strength, but by My SPIRIT, says the Lord of hosts" (Zeh.4: 6)
"And they were all full of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2,4).
 
(1 Cor 12:7 KJV)  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9  To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11  But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14  For the body is not one member, but many. 15  If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16  And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body 17  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? Sadly too many Christians have not disciplined even themselves, they still want to live an easy life,a self centered life,  and they are not willing to endure any personal disciplines, hardships.. they are still not see free to serve Christ, or set free from sin and sinful men and women too.

No aspect in understanding the true  Kingdom of God is more important than teachings of the  Bible on the marriage of the Lamb.

We often refer to the "Bride of Christ." But the Scripturealso  refers to the "Bride of the Lamb." This is because we eat the Lamb. We are made one with the Lamb by eating Him. Christ is the Passover Lamb.  But whoever personaly eats the Passover Lamb and lives by Him is forever free from death and slavery  to sins and demons.. The only free individual is the one who is the slave of Jesus Christ

(Gen 2:18 KJV)  And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

The account  of Adam and Eve  is also telling us that God has also determined that His Son will no longer be alone but will have someone with whom He can communicate and who will reveal His Glory in the creation of God.The Word of God, the Christ, the Anointed Lord, has never before had a complement, a helper suited to Him but he has one now, the bride, the church. We will be in our real bodies there too.

(Mat 22:2 KJV)  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,  3  And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 4  Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 5  But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: 6  And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. 7  But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8  Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. 9  Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 10  So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 11  And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: 12  And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? PRAYING WITH SCRIPTURE

God Speaks To Us First

 This fundamental truth makes it possible for us to pray. God has been concerned for each of us long before we became concerned for ourselves.

God desires communication with us and does so in many different ways:

  • through God's own word made flesh in Jesus
  • because we are joined together in Christ Jesus, God speaks to us through others (the church, wisdom of the ages, etc.)
  • creation took place in the word (Jn 1:1) and is another form of God's self-revelation
  • through the events and experiences of our lives
  • through the scriptures, a real form of God's presence. The use of scripture in prayer is the mode of communication that we are concerned with here. Since God invites us to listen. Our response to God's initial move is to listen to what is said. This is the basic attitude of prayer.

    How To Go About Listening

     What you do immediately before prayer is very important. Normally, it is something you do not rush right into. Spend a few moments quieting yourself and relaxing, settling yourself into a prayerful and comfortable position. In listening to anyone, you try to tune out everything except what the person is saying to you.

     In prayer this can be done best in silence and solitude. Select a short passage from scripture. Read it through a few times to familiarize yourself with it. Put a marker in the page. Try to find a quiet place where you can be alone and uninhibited in your response to God's presence. Try to quiet yourself interiorly. Jesus would often go up to a mountain alone to pray with his Abba. In an age of noise, activity, and tensions like our own, it is not always easy or necessary to forget our cares and commitments, the noise and excitement of our environment. Never feel constrained to blot out all distractions. Anxiety in this regard could get between ourselves and God. Rather, realize that the word did become flesh -- that God speaks to us in the noise and confusion of our day.

    Sometimes in preparing for prayer, relax and listen to the sounds around you. God's presence is as real as they are. Be conscious of your sensations and living experiences of feeling, thinking, hoping, loving, of wondering, desiring, etc. Then, conscious of God's unselfish, loving presence in you, address God simply and admit: "Yes, you do love life and feeling into me. You do love a share of your personal life into me. You are present to me. You live in me. Yes, you do."

    God is present in you through the Spirit, who speaks to you now in scripture, and who prays in you and for you. Ask for the grace to listen to what God says. Begin reading Scripture slowly and attentively. Do not hurry to cover much material.

    If it recounts an event of Jesus' life, be there in the mystery of it Share with the persons involved, e.g., a blind man being cured. Share their attitude. Respond to what Jesus is saying. Some words or phrases carry special meaning for you. Savour those words, turning them over in your heart.

    When something strikes you, e.g.,

  • you feel a new way of being with Jesus or he comes to you in a new way
    ( e.g., as healing or accepting you in a way different than other times)
  • you are happy and content just to be in God's presence,
  • you are struggling with or disturbed by what the words are saying.
  • you experience new meaning,
  • you are moved to do something loving. This is the time to....pause.
     

    This is God speaking directly to you in the words of Scripture.

    Do not hurry to move on.

    Wait until you are no longer moved by the experience. Don't get discouraged if nothing seems to be happening.

    Sometimes God lets us feel dry and empty in order to let us realize it is not in our own power to communicate or to experience consolation. God is sometimes very close to us in seeming absence (Ps 139:7-8). God is for us entirely, in a selfless way, accepting us as we are, with all our limitations - even with our seeming inability to pray. A humble attitude of listening is a sign of love for God, and a real prayer from the heart. At these times remember the words of Paul, "The Spirit, too, comes to help us in our weakness, for when we cannot choose words in order to pray properly, it is the Spirit who expresses our plea in a way that could never be put into words"(Rom 8:26-27).

    Relax in prayer. Remember, God will speak to you in God's own way. "Yes, as the rain and snow come down from the heavens and do not return without watering the earth, making it yield and giving growth to provide seed for the sower and bread for the eating, so the word that goes from my mouth does not return to me empty, without carrying out my will and succeeding in what it was sent to do"(Is 55:10-11).

    Spend time in your prayer just being conscious of God's presence in and around you. If you want to, speak about the things you are interested in or wish to thank God for, your joys, sorrows, aspirations, and so forth. For the prayer periods I can choose one or other of the following key scripture texts:

    Lk 11:1-13;   Ps 139:1-18;    Mt 28:16-20.

    In between my actual prayer periods I might want to read some of the following suggested supplementary readings; I shall use them only if they help dispose myself for the gift (grace) I am seeking.

    Heb 4:12-16; Rom 8; Ps 33,40,62,63,103,131; Mt 6:25-33;

    4: Christian testimony for the week
              Baptized in the Holy Spirit
    "I was recently Baptized in the Holy Spirit and although I did not speak in tongues I was told that I had prophesied. That is the same time also  when the Glory of the Lord came upon me. Amazing manifestations started to appear to me. I was at the prayer altar in my church one night and I was in the spirit,  and my pastor hugged me but in my mind I was believing that the Lord himself was holding me. As the Lord held me it felt like 220 volts of electricity was running through my body. I know now that is when he healed me also. That same night as I sat down in my pew I looked over and saw clearly the Lord holding my hand,  and when I went home as I was walking I looked down at my feet and I could then see a beautiful white robe upon me.
     
    For at least 30 days I would go to town in the spirit and ask the Lord what he wanted me to do. I would say to him have Your will not mine. I would just sit on the street and he would always bring someone to me, and we would talk and then they would just start opening up and telling their problems. I also knew it was the Lord they were wanting to be and with not me. It was as if I was a bystander watching the Holy Spirit work! I have sat back and watched the Holy Spirit convict people of their sins right in front of my eyes. So amazing.
     
    My daughter also had an different experience the other day. I had been praying that God would touch her and he did, for she next said "Mom I don't know what hit me but as I walked in through the doorway I felt something, and she said actually  she felt a little dizzy and that she had to sit down. She also said that she had never felt that before. She said she was so peaceful afterward. I told her that the Lord had touched her mind. Praise God!
     
    There is so much more and it would take pages to describe everything I have recently experienced. I know that I have never felt this kind of peace, for God's peace is real to me even when the rest of the world is going nuts. Now when I pray and even when I am not praying  I can feel the Lord touching me but  when I am praying I feel it is like electricity running through me.
     
    I am reminded that in the last days God will pour out his spirit on all flesh, he has poured it out on my flesh and I thank him for this everyday.
     
    The Holy Spirit has made me so sensitive that when I pray I usually cry, I believe my calling is for intercessory weeping.  If there is such a thing.  Lots of people cried out to God in the Bible too.
     
    The devil will attack you even when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, and when you are studying the Bible,  because he the devil does not want us to know the truth, to follow after  the truth that we have through the power  that is in in Jesus Christ"  Equine.

        The Baptism of the Holy Spirit.  

    THE PROMISE of the outpouring of the Holy spirit IS FOR YOU

    "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." John 3:5-6 

    In Acts 2:39 Peter says "For the promise is for you and your children,and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself."

    "And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." (Luke 24:49).

    "And it shall be in the last days, God says, that I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams (Acts 2:17).

    I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring, And My blessing on your descendants — Isaiah 44 

    Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you."

    When one has accepted Jesus  Christ all that they may have doen was accepted jesus Christ  as their savior, but not as Lord and not  not his power to do God's works.. Believe on the lord jesus Christ and you shall be saved.. some people have accepted jesus as being the Son of God but they have not even yet accepted him even as Lord, the anointyer, and  so what does that say of them too now? 

    THIS BAPTISM, FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT  IS FIRSTLY RESERVED ONLY FOR GOD'S CHILDREN, BELIEVERS WHO HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR AND FULL LORD OF THEIR LIFE.  THERE ARE BOTH INITIAL AND CONTINUAL FILLINGS, BAPTISMS.

    John 14:12 "He that believeth on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father".

    Lu 11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

    Mt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

    (John 1:32 KJV)  And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

    It is very significant that the description remaining is used to describe the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

    (Rom 11:29 KJV)  For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

    There are at least four baptisms referred to in the scripture. Each baptism seems to indicate a step of progress in appropriating God's promises to us in our Christian experience.

    These baptisms are:

    1. Baptism into the Body of Christ - salvation received.
    2. Baptism in Water - attitudes changed.
    3. Baptism of the Holy Ghost - power for service received.
    4. Baptism of Suffering - endurance of faith established and release of the spirit.

    God's desire now is that the Holy Spirit not only be "with", but abide "within" the child of God.

    Although the baptism in the Spirit can occur jointly at conversion, it usually happens at a later time. It is a result of our own personal willingness to walk fully with the Lord in obedience to His will.The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is separately both a filling of the Holy Spirit and an anointing of the Holy Spirit for a particular  service for God. To be baptized in the Spirit is to be immersed in the Spirit to the point that the you do allow the Holy Spirit takes over control of your life, activities, to empower you  — to take direct control even of your thoughts, words and actions. You see, it is one thing to have the Spirit residing in you. It is another thing to have the Spirit presiding over  you.

    "Peter said] ... {37} That word, [I say], ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; {38} How God ANOINTED Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost [= Spirit] and with POWER: who went about DOING GOOD, and HEALING all that were oppressed of the devil; for GOD WAS WITH HIM. --ACTS 10:37-38 (KJV)

    "Indeed the fullness of God the Holy Spirit is essential to every child of God and God promised this fullness to all His children and assured us that if His children ask they shall receive (Luke 11:33). In all the accounts referred to above the gift of the Holy Spirit was reserved for those called children of God, believers, disciples of the Lord Jesus and had received God's Word (Acts 2:14,15,17).

    Jesus taught, when telling his disciples of the Holy Spirit's coming, that the world would not be able to receive the Holy Spirit. Those who had not accepted the Lordship of Jesus in their life were not part of God's Kingdom and were therefore considered by God to be "of the world".

    Is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit a one-time event? Is it possible to receive more of the Holy Spirit Can I be filled more than one, or anointed more than once?

    The Christian life is a continual  journey. Paul says: "I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has already taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the final prize."  This applies to all aspects of the Christian life. (Phil 3:12 KJV)  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

    (Acts 13:1 KJV)  Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.2  As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them 3   And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

     Apostle Paul received a special anointing at a prayer meeting in Antioch (Acts 13:1-4), even sixteen years after his conversion on the road to Damascus.

    This is the anointing I pray for every time I lead a church service, or  get up to preach, or when I began to write a devotional. It is also the same Holy Spirit anointing every person should pray for when they get ready to do any work in the Lord's kingdom, whether it is to preach, teach, sing in a choir, or serve  the church or whatever..

    We can always come closer to God and receive more of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

    "During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered, and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him" (Hebrews 5:7-8).

    We all are to pray that we be also filled with the Spirit continually.

    Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever (Ephesians 3:20). 

    Ephesians 5:18 tells us, "And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled continually with the Spirit." The Greek tense for filled implies the idea of keeping on being filled. It has been stated that it takes just as much consecration to remain filled with the Spirit as it does to get filled with the Spirit or baptized in the Spirit in the first place. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit itself  is aalso an  introduction to the realm of the Holy Spirit. We must continue to "walk by the Spirit", and so, "not fulfil the lusts of the flesh". It is possible to begin in the Spirit and then later "fall from grace" by working, walking  in the flesh (Gal 3:3 KJV)  Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4  Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

    If we turn back to the law and ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit. Therefore we must not become proud and self-satisfied with the idea that we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, but we must continually humble ourselves, deny the flesh and be led by the Spirit day by day (Luke 9:23 KJV)  And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

    The Holy Spirit wants us to (Eph 5:19 KJV)  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;21  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

    and to medidate on good things (Phil 4:8 KJV)  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

    Let us not grieve Him, the person of the Holy spirit . Let us be obedient to Him.  We can get anointed, filled, Baptized  of the Holy Spirit, and then through sins, neglect of our godly spiritual life, we can drift away from the Lord and begin once again to quench and grieve the Spirit. Our personal convictions  of our sins by the Holy Spirit and our personal repentance will then bring us back to the Lord and to a new release of the power of His Spirit within us. Thus, we experience again the power of the  baptism in the Spirit. The only way we can stay full of the Spirit is to stay near, to come back to the  the fountain, Jesus Christ  who is the baptizer of us with the Holy Spirit. Let us talk to Him and continue in a wonderful relationship with Him. Then the further purposes of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit will be achieved in our lives. 

    Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

    Acts 7:51  Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

     Ephesians 1:19 "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,"  Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

    Praise be to God for His wonderful gifts His son and the Holy Spirit.! " His love which is the Holy Spirit.

    (John 15:9 KJV)  As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

    Prayer: Lord,  I humble myself before you, God. Forgive me for all my sins that I now confess, I admt I am also  the chief of sinner before you.  I now also re commit myself to you and yo your work, service. I humble myself before you, God. As I stand in prayer, descend also upon me, and equip me afresh for your work here on earth. I long to pause and drink in your love to sustain me in a world that also does needs to feel that love pass from me to them. In Jesus name I pray that you Fill me with your love, your Holy Spirit. Lord. Saturate me fully  now with your Holy Spirit..   In Jesus' name, I pray all of this and I give you thnaks that it has been done. Amen.

    The Bible  indicates that individuals, prophets who served God had not just multiple but even double anointing of the holy spirit.. and they were periodically anointed with new and different gifts for different services.  (2 Ki 2:1- 15 KJV) 
     
    (2 Ki 2:1 KJV)  And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. 2  And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel. 3  And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
     
    (John 3:34 KJV)  For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
     
    The Holy Spirit is the inner voice that guides, leads us, teaches us, tells us something is wrong with our life. That inner voice of God is the  blessed gift from God, who loves us enough to show us our errors. The conviction of the Holy Spirit is the beginning  and the continuation of the new life from above with God.
     
    (John 10:27 KJV)  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
     
    "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter (Holy Spirit) will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" John 16:7-8 (KJV)

    "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come." John 16:13 (KJV)
     
    (Eph 4:30 KJV)  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:32   And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
     
    We see clearly here above some of   those personal sins that can grieve the Holy Spirit, cause us not to flow effectively next in the Holy Spirit. Sins we personally do still need to admit, confess, repent from  as well.
     
    (Rom 8:16 KJV)  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

    I rightfully along with some other Christian persons do believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate personal experience  from that of being born again, born from above..  an experience of  even one's personal  choice of our own free will,but I do not say that speaking in tongues is a must or is the sole , a clear evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit... but there should be some real personal physical evidences next if you have been Baptized in the Holy Spirit now too.
     
    I have to say that I am also still always shocked that like in all other issues,   giving alms to the poor, tithing is not being Biblically, healing, prophecy, and now even the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, they're all generally not being  honestly, Biblically  presented. I still rightfully  do use the scripture first to interpret all of the words in it too, the  scriptures and not any dictionaries or another false persons views, but to do this you have to be in the Word, and be familiar with it too. Wrongfully not many people still are not familiar wit the Bible, even many pastors.
     
    Sadly too many preachers themselves have really not yet been baptized with the  Holy Ghost still, and this is still why they don't understand it, they thus cannot really share this truth with others.
     
    "But I was baptized in water. Wasn't that good enough?" NO!! Not at all.. who told you it was? Not Jesus! Nor the Apostles!

    Is.9:16 - For the leaders of this people (or, they which call themselves blessed) cause [them] to err; and [they that are] led of them (or, they that are called blessed of them) [are] destroyed (or, swallowed up).
     
    John 10:1 - Verily, verily, I (Jesus) say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
     (Hosea 10:12 KJV)  Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and  rain righteousness upon you.

    (Acts 2:38 KJV)  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    Now why is it that too many of  preachers  still do tend to only preach half, part of  the Gospel and leave out what it means to receive fully the gift of the Holy Ghost as well?
     
    Jesus replied, “Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.”(Matthew 22:29)
     
    (Acts 10:38 KJV)  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
     
    In love I certainly rightfully cannot agree with the over  simplification of what it means to be Baptized with the Holy Spirit by too many persons now too by even persons who try to now, next write about something they have never really personally experienced, know very  little about now as well.  Being filled with Holy spirit is sperate from being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
     
    To me being Baptized in the Holy Spirit is beign empowered to do God's calling, Ministry, works.

(Luke 4:36 KJV)  And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. (Luke 9:1 KJV)  Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2  And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. (Luke 10:19 KJV)  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ( Luke 12:5 KJV)  But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 24:49 KJV)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.(Acts 1:7 KJV)  And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
     
    Too many preachers, personswrongfully make major, wrong doctrines of isolated portions of scriptures,  to their own false liking and neglect all of the other valid parts of the Bible still today as well even on the subject of future prophecies,  the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, especially those who still  wrongfully also do not put any personal emphasis on personal, real Holy Spirit living, and living  is His Holy Spirit power too.
     
    THUS RATHER WHERE STILL  IS THE RIGHTFUL EMPHASIS ON THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM? and  the  power of the Holy Spirit..
     
    (Mark 1:4 KJV)  John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
     
    (Acts 13:24 KJV)  When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
     
    (Acts 18:25 KJV)  This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

    "But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." --Acts 2:16-21.

    Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and [so is] also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

    ""The last days" is a Bible term clearly defined in Joel 2:28-32, quoted in Acts 2:17,21:

    "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy... And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

    According to Bible terminology, "the last days" is that period of time beginning with Pentecost and continuing unto the day of the Lord-- that is, until Christ's personal return to reign. The term, "the last days," is often (even deliberately) misused these days even by fundamental  Christians. "

    "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the  righteousness of God." Romans 10:2-3. Luke 13:3, 5 3, 5 I tell you, Nay:  but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

    The last days It is the Holy Spirit gospel age. It coincides with the time with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit scope of the Great Commission. (Luke 24:49 KJV)  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high..   And Jesus was to be with them in power and blessing--unchanged until the end of the age.  (Heb 13:8 KJV)  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

    It is true that we are in "the last days." These are the days beginning with Pentecost and will continue with increasing blessing until the end of the age. These last days are to be marked by the pouring out of the Holy Spirit for the preaching of the Gospel and for witnessing by Spirit-filled sons and daughters, servants and handmaids. It is the age when "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved," the age of revivals, the age of "whosoever will." "

    1 Corinthians has five key chapters about the Holy Spirit. In that epistle the early Christians were clearly described as being baptized into the Holy Spirit, and their lives transformed by the Baptism, the Power of the Holy Spirit.  For these Christians  membership in the church community was also not defined by being placed, accepted merely on a Church list but rather their visible exercising the gifts of the Spirit in the church community.

    It is important for every Christian not only to correctly understand what is this baptism in the Holy Spirit so as to be able to explain it to others correctly, but also to actually experience this baptism in the Spirit, and thus enter into a dimension of life full of the power of God. Christians need the power that comes with the Baptism in the Spirit in order to do their part in continuing the supernatural ministry of Jesus Christ. 

    The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the bestowing of the believer with power to be an effective witness for Christ. This experience is distinct from, and subsequent to, the New Birth; is received by faith, and is accompanied by the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an experience onlly for  Christians. It is the Holy Spirit coming upon believers and filling them in order to energies and empower them for service. to wittness, to do good to others. Acts 1:8, Jesus said, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth."(Acts 10:38 KJV)  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

    Power = Gk Dunamis - miracle working power, abundance of strength.

    1. Power to witness, Acts 1:8.
    2. Power to do the works that Jesus did and even greater works, Jn 14:12.
    3. Power to speak God's Word boldly.
    4. 4:31, "They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God with boldness."

    The Disciples themselves received two distinct and separate workings of the Holy Spirit.

    1. After Christ's Resurrection. John 20:22, “He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit”. This is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that every believer receives at salvation.
    2. At Pentecost. (An experience subsequent to regeneration.)
      Acts 2:4, “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance”. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.
      Jesus made reference in Acts 1:5 that what they received in John 20:22 wasn't the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. That would occur a few days later. What is clear however is that they were already saved.
      1. They belonged to God, Jn 17:9-10.
      2. Their names were written in heaven, Luke 10:20.
      3. They had eternal life, Jn 10:27-29.

    (Eph 5:18 KJV)  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

    Evidences of being spirit filled, empowered include a clear  reliance on the Holy Spirit for, in all things. We have learned to surrender quickly to the Spirit's voice, not trusting our own minds, nor caring about our own reputation. When we make mistakes, we receive correction meekly. When we have success, we do give all the glory to God. The Holy Spirit lreads, gudes us, speaks to us, and He teaches us to pray .(Rom 8:26 KJV)  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (1 Cor 14:15 KJV)  What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.It  is also ironic  that  the Pentecostals are often criticized by the fundamental evangelicals for their supposedly false doctrines on the Holy Spirit and yet it is the Pentecostals who are still one of the most active groups in winning souls for Christ today..Why? Their rightful emphasis on the Holy Spirit empowerment,

    (Acts 17:27 KJV)  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

    John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 

    Colo 1:27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

     Luke 11:9 says, "Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened to you."

    Luke 11:13, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him”.

    If the Christians also had the power. anointing  of the Holy spirit there would be no reason for Jesus telling them to ask for it.

    (John 14:12 KJV)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

    (John 14:13 KJV)  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

     Luke 11:13, "If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him."

    "Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? Having started with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh?" (Galatians 3:2-3).

    "The kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (14:17).

    Zech 4:6, “…Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of Hosts”.

    "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).
     
    The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you . . . He will guide you into all the truth" (John 14:26; 16:13; see also 14:12).

    Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.

    Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
